Vodafone 4G finally available in India; roll out begins from Kochi on 14 December

After a number of delays, Vodafone has finally begun the roll out of 4G services to its subscribers in India. The roll out for now starts with Kochi only. Vodafone promises plenty of offers to choose from and enjoy faster data connectivity speeds to the fullest. The British telecom major will roll out its 4G network using the FDD-LTE 1800 MHz band. Vodafone states that its high-speed mobile internet experience is backed by an extensive fibre network that has been overhauled to deliver superior speeds. The company will support everything, from two-way video calling, to high-definition video streaming on its brand new network that is expected to work with every 4G enabled smartphone available in the Indian market. At the launch of Vodafone’s 4G service in India, Sunil Sood, MD & CEO, Vodafone India said, “4G has the potential to revolutionize the mobile experience through powerful innovation that impacts how we work and live. Vodafone’s global expertise and experience of launching 4G across 19 countries gives us a better understanding of this technology and the needs of the 4G customer. Accordingly, we are delighted to launch our ultrafast 4G services in India that will give customers the power to experience the most advanced wireless broadband experience available across the globe today. As a steadfast partner of Digital India, we remain focused on deploying multiple technologies –be it 2G, 3G and now 4G-for optimum use as  each technology has its own vital role to play in servicing the myriad connectivity needs of consumers across the country. " Vodafone has some interesting data offers to compliment its 4G network launch as well. The operator is offering unlimited movie downloads for 3 months, free unlimited music streaming on Vodafone Music and much more. As for the prices, Vodafone has launched data packs ranging from a trial pack of 120 MB at Rs 29 to a bonanza pack of 20 GB at/ Rs 2499. As for when Vodafone’s 4G networks will reach other parts of the country, testing is already in progress for the cities that are a part of its first phase. These cities include Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata. For now there is no confirmed launch date for the above mentioned cities, but Vodafone has commented that it has partnered with leading global technology service providers for the network roll-out.
