After the launch of the V5s, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has sent out a teaser for the launch of a new mid-range device. The device tagged in the teaser as the Vivo V7 Plus has never been heard of before. It is expected to be the successor to the currently available Vivo V5 Plus model, that packs in a dual camera set up for selfies. [caption id=“attachment_3938565” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Representational image[/caption] The Vivo V5 Plus was
**launched in India** in January this year and was priced at Rs 27,980 at launch. The device featured a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 inside coupled with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. With the Vivo V7 Plus we expect Vivo to take things up a notch by adding a chipset that uses the new
**Qualcomm 660** (or 630) platform inside. Add to this the usual 4 GB RAM and an improved Full HD display and we could have something special if the company decides to add a dual camera at the back and the front. Even if that does not happen, the Snapdragon 660 should be enough for Vivo to take the competition head on. [caption id=“attachment_3938551” align=“alignnone” width=“825”]
Vivo V7 Plus teaser[/caption] The front-facing dual cameras too could see an improvement and could cement Vivo’s position in the selfie camera smartphone space. Last we heard from Vivo, the company had launched an industry-first
**under display fingerprint sensor** , one that could be placed anywhere under the display. Branded as Vivo Under Display, the technology was unveiled at the MWC 2017 in Shanghai and basically strikes out the need to have a physical space or a capacitive button on the device to unlock it. This would mean, that the device would no longer need to have a space on the bezel or the back, reserved purely for the fingerprint reader, which also makes way for more devices with full-screen displays that take up the entire front face with minimum bezel. Let’s hope the V7 Plus has some of these goodies if not all.
