Another Chinese smartphone brand, Vivo, is set to enter the Indian market. Vivo is gearing up to launch their slimmest smartphone called Vivo X5Max at an event on Dec 15. The Vivo X5Max measures just 4.75mm thick which makes it slimmer than the Gionee S5.1 which is 5.1mm thick as well as the Oppo R5 which is 4.85mm thick. According to a report by fonearena, the phone is said to sport a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 1.7GHz MediaTek SoC with an octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The phone has 16GB internal storage and can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. In terms of camera, the phone sports a 13MP rear camera along with 5MP front facing camera. The phone is also said to have support for 4G TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA connectivity and dual SIM configuration. Vivo has partnered with Viacom 18 to launch the 4G handset in India. Vivo is planning to launch around four handsets within a price range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 35,000. According to Jacy Liao, director, vivo Mobile India, Vivo plans to be part of the new government’s Make in India campaign and would like to set up their own manufacturing units in the next three years.
