While most of us are satisfied with our 24 and 30 fps video shooting performance, Vision Research has launched a new video shooting camera that can record 1280x800 videos at a staggering 16,000 fps, that’s roughly 550 times faster than a decent camera. This number gets even more impressive as you lower resolutions. At its lowest resolution, it shoots at a mindboggling 1,000,000 fps. Files are likely to be large and no memory card is going to be able to cope with that kind of data transfer, so the v1610 uses a Gigabit Ethernet interface that connects to a PC. You also get the option of using storage mediums of 24, 48 and 96GB.

Some of the other features include a port for connecting GPS modules. The lens mount on the v1610 is a standard Nikon F while options for Canon are also available. The camera comes bundled with a 220W power supply unit as well. There’s no official pricing provided but prices are not likely to be affordable. Rumoured price of the Vision Phantom v1610 is said to be around $1,00,000.
