Talk about integrating social networking into your business. Virgin American has just named one of their flights with a hashtag. It’s called #nerdbird. The company said that its dedicating its 39th bird to its social media fans, with updates both on Facebook and Twitter. It’s the first of its kind and of course, a brilliant idea to take a hashtag to the sky. It isn’t flying high right now on trending topics though, maybe it will soon.

The name #nerdbird is said to be dedicated to the ’tech nerds’ who fly between Boston and San Francisco quite regularly. Apparently it’s what Virgin’s guests and crew call SFO-BOS flights. This fun little name will definitely get them a lot more social media supporters and
of course, that will never hurt the business
