In this age of social media and viral videos, young couples in love seem to have come to the conclusion that the biggest decision of their lives is also their biggest opportunity to get some Internet love.

The art of the innovative wedding proposal seems to be only second to cats in terms of gathering eyeballs on the Internet. And with that in mind, more and more young people seem to be arranging elaborate and meticulously planned wedding proposals that seemed designed to woo not only their significant other, but the collective Internet.

And now the latest to jump on this bandwagon is YouTube user RemixCB who not only organised a flash mob, but also hired a brass band in an effort to convince his girlfriend Allyson that she should marry him.

The description of the video says, “On June 9, 2012 I told Allison to meet me in Bryant Park for lunch. When she arrived I had her close friend meet her and walk her toward the steps of the park. Then, a woman unknown to Allison, came up and led her to the center table for a little show.”

Watch video:

The video begins with an enthusiastic flash mob to Michael Jackson’s The way you make me feel which then gives way to the appearance of a marching band led by the hopeful groom himself, playing Hey Baby (If you’ll be my girl) which moves the blushing bride-to-be to tears. Cue cheering crowd and proposal on bent knee, and you are left wondering - what would have happened if she said no?

Thankfully she didn’t.

The Internet proposal has been gathering quite some eyeballs in recent times. There was the world’s first ever ’lip dub’ proposal that saw one Isaac Lamb do a elaborately choreographed routine to Marry you by Bruno Mars. And then there was the Malaysian blogger Timothy Tiah won hearts the world over when he used Internet memes to propose to his girlfriend Ooi.

Either way we’re not going to pretend that the video doesn’t make for some great viewing. And we wonder: What would a viral Indian marriage proposal look like? Ideas anyone?
