Vine rolls out massive update for the Android app

Say hello to a massive new Vine for Android update that is rolling out today. Bringing the app up-to-speed with its iOS counterpart, Vine will allow you to do a lot more with the application including better searching, surfing channels as well as Revining, which is the video app’s version of ‘retweeting’. There are also new capture tools and a new widget in store for users.

There are some new tools in the Camera section of the application too. The update allows users to “Ghost Mask” the next scene over the previous shot as well as grid and focus.

Of course, not everything iOS has made its way to Android. Users will be disheartened to find out that the “biggest ever update” still doesn’t contain the ability to shoot videos using the front camera. This niggling issue aside, Vine has also announced a widget for the Android app. Vine users can place the capture widget on their home-screen to easily access the Camera tool and shoot videos instantly. The update also contains performance improvements as well as a mute button in the menu for times you do not wish to listen to those loopy-videos.

Vine has increased the pace of updates and features for both its iOS and Android applications ever since Instagram threw its hat in the looping-videos ring. However, unless Vine can manage to push out the all-important front camera facing feature update, it will lag behind Facebook’s application.
