So how does Vine let its fans know that it’s going to be updated with new features? Through Vine, of course! Just a day before Facebook’s big reveal that could well see Instagram get Vine-like, short video shooting abilities, Vine is teasing features that are coming to the service soon.

Dom Hoffman and Rus Yusupov, co-founders of the short video service, released three Vines with snappy stop-motion, which might seem normal but hide a few secrets about upcoming features Vine could apparently get. The redesign could see Vine videos finally covering the entire screen instead of simply being boxed into the timeline. This would be a great change from the congested design that now is home to not just the video but also likes, comment and share buttons. This is probably a feature that should have hit the service a long time ago.

Another cryptic Vine video shows messages being exchanged between a couple of people, hinting at a private messaging service from Vine. It isn’t completely clear, but it does look like there is text superimposed on the Vine videos. Some reports even hint at Snapchat like features that could be a part of Vine.

A Vine by Yusupov shows the ability to save and capture videos you’ve shot earlier. It looks like you will be able to stitch together a whole new video from your past ones instead of needing to fire up your camera to shoot a fresh video.

Vine will obviously be on alert with rumours about Instagram getting abilities to shoot five to ten second long videos. The Twitter-backed service will need to evolve to stay relevant since its only a few months old, while its could-be competitor is a few years old and has a huge fan following.
