Videocon has announced the new A55HD smartphone. The phone is priced at Rs 13,499 and features a 5-inch One Glass Solution (OGS) capacitive touchscreen with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, giving it a pixel density of 293 ppi. Internally, the A55HD has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.
In terms of optics, the smartphone sports an 8 megapixel rear camera featuring auto focus with panorama shot. The camera also supports up to 40 continuous shots in burst mode. The A55HD also comes with a 3.2 megapixel front-facing camera.
The smartphone comes with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean and a 2000 mAh battery. The phone supports Bluetooth 4.0 as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The phone also comes with HSPA, which will give speeds up to 42 Mbps, according to the company. The A55HD also features GPS with A-GPS.
Videocon has launched the latest addition to its smartphone category, the A55HD
Miscellaneous features like flip-to-silent and face-detection will also be seen in the A55HD. The company has also added a protective pouch for the phone. The A55HD also comes with V-Store, which may not see much use as it gives users the same apps and other features as Google Play.
From the specifications alone, the A55HD falls somewhere in the lower part of the mid-range smartphone category. A big problem could be the OGS touchscreen, which comes without any protective feature like Gorilla Glass.
