India’s censor board is teaming up with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to censor video games. The Ministry is planning to draft a bill that will restrict the sales of video games to anyone under the age of 21/18/16 (the limit has not been finalized yet). If developers aren’t willing to modify content to suit the Indian market, their games will apparently not be sold in India anymore.
Here’s what Sharmila Tagore, the chairman of the Censor Board, had to say on the matter: “It’s true there’s a proposal that the Censor Board should start censoring all video games – and I agree with the proposal totally. We have already submitted our proposal to the ministry and the draft is being considered by them.”
