Viber, the messaging app which also lets you make data calls, has released a new update for its Android and iOS users. This update comes with features such as Gif image support, backup and restore options. Another new feature is the integration with Western Union for money transfer among users in up to 200 countries. The animated Gifs feature lets you respond to your friends with Gifs which is becoming a standard among most messaging apps, except WhatsApp. Viber also lets you manually save your text conversations on Google Drive or iCloud. This can then be restored on a new device that you may be using, as long as it is on the same operating system. “So if you have to uninstall Viber for any reason, or if you’re treating yourself to a new device, or if you just don’t want to chance losing your messages, you should never have to part with the messages you hold dear if you don’t want to. Back up your history, restore it when you need it - on Android and on iOS,” says the Viber blog . The Western Union money transfer integration lets you send money to Western Union agents in any of the 200 countries from where the cash can be picked up by concerned users. Direct transfer to bank accounts is possible only in up to 50 countries as of now. Apple iOS users will also get watchOS support for running Viber on Apple Watch.
