Kickstarter has been a home to some of the most innovative and strangest ideas we’ve ever seen. A new one has popped up that has a simple aim – to make it possible to send audio wirelessly over Bluetooth to two old-school speakers at the same time. Dubbed the Vertus, the Kickstarter project has hit its goal of $40,000, and has even surpassed it. At the time of writing, the campaign has gathered up $68,431 worth of pledges.

The Vertus uses CSR’s TrueWireless Stereo technology with two specialised Bluetooth receivers – one for each speaker – that can work independently if needed to add full stereo Bluetooth capability to any single non-Bluetooth speaker, headphones or car stereo. The device is being designed, machined and assembled in the USA.

There are many uses of the Vertus, such as using it to spread out music in a room or an outdoor space during a party. It can also be used to make a portable home theatre system. By using two identical portable speakers, you can listen to music, movies, games or any audio in true stereo form by having a speaker on each side. Near Field Listening Position can be implemented too, which is a simple speaker setup that enhances stereo audio. The Vertus receivers can also be used independently as standalone stereo Bluetooth receivers.

The Vertus is made from one piece of aluminium block, which gives it a pleasant-looking unibody design. It is small and doesn’t weigh much; it can easily merge with any speaker. It will be available in brushed silver or brushed and anodised gunmetal grey. The Vertus is said to be in the last stages of development.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
