Italian fashion house Versace, debuted their high-end mobile phones in India, and it looks like Vertu (Nokia’s subsidiary that manufactures high-end phones) has some competition, in terms of both price and performance. At a price of Rs. 4.25 lakh, it sure is expensive but it has some good features too. The phones will be sold at eight points of sales in metros at 'Versace Boutique' and 'Versace Collection' stores, as per Versace’s Indian franchisee, Blues Clothing Company (BCC).
"We are very bullish about the new range of Versace mobile phones in India. There is a market for such premium products here," BCC Executive Director Abhay Gupta said. He also said that there are two variants of Versace Unique in different colors priced at Rs. 3, 95,000 and Rs. 4, 25,000. The features include 3G compatibility, a ceramic frame made of 18K gold and a 5 MP camera. Apart from a few phones here and there, Vertu has been famous for their high-priced phones in India, and the scenario only becomes interesting with Versace entering the arena. So will it overtake Vertu? Or will Vertu sit happy at the top?
