Verify Apps, the system that had been one of the more significant introductions to Android 4.2, is now available for all Android devices running version 2.3 and higher. This significant development was first spotted by JR Raphael of Computerworld .
Verify Apps typically checks your Android device for any new app installations, even those installed from outside of the Google Play store, and quickly scans them for malware or any other harmful code.
Considering the new system is now available for devices running Android v2.3 and above, it covers a great number of Android devices that are currently active. Google’s CEO Larry Page recently revealed that more than 1.5 million Android devices are being activated every day. Page made that statement while talking about some of the milestones achieved in the second quarter of 2013, on a conference call.

Better protection against malware now?
Elaborating further on this system, the report explains that it works side-by-side an automated scanning system within the Play store; it has been there since 2012. Simply put, all apps, even the ones from third-party stores, will be “scanned, analyzed, and compared to a massive database of malicious code, all in a fraction of a second.”
Suppose the system faces a problem as the app is being downloaded, it will warn you and suggest that you do not proceed with the installation.
The report further quotes Android Security Engineer Adrian Ludwig as saying, “We wanted to make sure those protections were available even for users who were choosing to install applications from a source other than Google Play. It’s always been a focus for Android to make sure that we’re supporting an open ecosystem and that it’s possible for users to get applications that developers, for any number of reasons, aren’t distributing through [the official Play Store channel].”
