Fresh after the launch of its latest operating system – Windows 8 – Microsoft is facing complaints from users about not being able to use the digital version of the OS, after downloading it from the official website.

According to complaints posted on the Microsoft Answers website, users are facing an error in the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant that displays the message, “The download task did not complete. Access is denied.” Users have been facing these issues despite having a clean download with no pausing or partial files.

Yesterday, Microsoft announced the global availability of its latest Windows operating system, Windows 8. From today, Windows 8 goes on sale for consumers and businesses. Windows 8 has a new user interface (UI), and a range of applications. Also announced was the opening of the Windows Store. As a result of work with hardware partners, more than 1,000 certified PCs and tablets, including Microsoft Surface, will be available for the launch of Windows 8 — making it the best line-up of PCs ever across the Windows 8 and Windows RT ecosystem.

“We have reimagined Windows and the result is a stunning lineup of new PCs,” said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. “Windows 8 brings together the best of the PC and the tablet. It works perfect for work and play and it is alive with your world. Every one of our customers will find a PC that they will absolutely love.”

Windows 8 is available for download to upgrade existing PCs in more than 140 markets and 37 languages. Windows 8 is available at retail stores in two primary versions - Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro, with Windows 8 Enterprise being available for large organisations. Launched at the same time was a new member of the Windows family, Windows RT, which is designed for ARM-based tablets and is pre-installed on new devices. In addition to Microsoft Office 2013, Windows RT is designed exclusively for apps in the new Windows Store. Windows 8 features the new start screen that gives people one-click access to the apps and content they use the most. It also features an entirely new Internet Explorer 10 that is designed for touch and built-in cloud capabilities with SkyDrive.

With Windows 8, Microsoft promises to offer users a personalised experience with a new user interface (UI) focused on the user. Windows 8 enables users to create content on the same device, with either touch or a mouse and a keyboard.

Microsoft shares that the Windows Store makes discovering, buying, and installing new apps in Windows 8 smoother. Customers have been promised lots of interesting new third party apps in the Windows Store such as Evernote, LivingSocial, Cocktail Flow, Hulu, Wikipedia, and Urbanspoon. Many apps from the Windows Store are free to try before users make a purchase. Windows 8 allows you to try and then remove any app without leaving a trace.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
