Tesla’s Chief Executive Elon Musk promised the battery-powered truck would hit the road in 2019. The Semi is capable of travelling 500 miles (804 kilometres) on one charge and will cost less than a diesel Semi because of fuel savings and lower maintenance costs, according to Musk. Last month, German logistics company DHL reserved 10 trucks. Fleet operator J.B. Hunt and retailer giant Walmart have also said they would buy Tesla Semi.
