Yahoo! has just announced that its upgraded email service, Yahoo! Mail beta will be available to all users in the US and in 18 global markets. The service, which was previously available to a limited number of users, now features a new interface, online calendar integration and other features such as drag and drop e-mail organization, message preview and an integrated RSS reader. The new version is a free, browser-based service and does not require a software download.
In addition, the new version claims to provide protection from spam and viruses, with the help of a new spam column located next to each message in the inbox to instantly mark a message as spam. Other features include a new ‘Quick Start’ user guide, Keyboard shortcuts and right-click menus, and the Ability to open multiple e-mail messages in tabs. The new version also has Integrated RSS reader, to receive breaking news, blogs, and other feeds directly in the mailbox.
The beta version is now made available to Yahoo! Mail users in the United States, Australia/New Zealand, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, The Philippines, Singapore, Spain, and Taiwan. Yahoo! has also introduced a localized French-language version in Canada, as well as an English-language version in Asia. Earlier this year, the beta was introduced in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Canada and Korea.
