An updated version of the Chrome app (v28) has been rolled out for the iPhone and iPad, Google’s Peter Lee confirmed in a blog post .

The updated app makes it easier for users to integrate their chosen Google apps with the browser. Once users have signed in to Chrome, they can sign in to other Google apps with a single click. Additionally, users who prefer to follow directions in the Google Maps app and not the browser can do so by setting a preference to open these links in the Maps app instead. Users can set similar preferences for YouTube, Google+ and Google Drive apps.

The Chrome app for iOS devices features better voice search capabilities now. In addition to that, the app has been updated with text-to-speech for all variations in English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Japanese and Korean languages. When using voice search, users will be able to use toolbar controls. The app can be also viewed fullscreen on iPad. Thanks to the update, users have the ability to access their browsing history from the menu now.

Google will also be rolling out an experimental data compression service for the app to help users save bandwidth, load pages faster and browse more securely on their iOS device.

The updated app has been fed some stability/security improvements and features fixes to some previously known bugs. The updated Chrome app is available for download on the iTunes store.
