Upcoming Xbox One games that you should save up for

With the initial launch of the PlayStation 4 out of the way, we believe it’s time to look at the other next-gen console that is seeing the light of day this month—Microsoft’s Xbox One. We decided to take a look at some of the games we can look forward to on the console. Do keep in mind, however, that we aren’t just looking at launch titles. Nobody buys a gaming console for the first couple of games that are coming out. Instead, we’ll be looking at all of the Xbox One exclusives announced so far and picking our favourites.

Fable Legends
Despite Fable 3 not doing very well and us completely ignoring that Kinect Fable game (I mean seriously, who even wants to play a non-dancing game with that thing?), we’re still looking forward to Legends, if only because of how amazing the first couple of games in the franchise were. The Fable series has always held a lot of potential, only for it to be squandered in some or the other way. Here’s hoping Legends ends up being a return to form for the series as well as Lionhead Studios.

Forza Motorsport 5
I’ve personally preferred the Forza series over Gran Turismo, especially because of how driving the cars actually felt in the Xbox-exclusive franchise. Hence, it should come as no surprise that I’m really looking forward to Forza 5, especially after the awesomeness of Forza Horizon. We also really want to see what the deal is with the whole ‘drivatar’ thing (one hell of a stupid portmanteau, if you ask me). Luckily enough, Forza Motorsport 5 is a launch title, so you won’t have to wait for too long before getting your hands on it.

Halo 5
How could this not be on the list? Halo has always been any Xbox console’s premiere game, to the point where it was a system seller when it first came out on the original Xbox, and again when Halo 3 was released on the Xbox 360. The next Halo game looks gorgeous, at least from what we can make out from the pre-rendered cutscene they showed us during the Xbox One E3 event. We’re also really interested in 343 Industries’ storyline.

Killer Instinct
Currently the only fighting game that has been announced for any of the next-gen consoles, Killer Instinct is the resurrection of the classic SNES game of the same name. It features all of the same mechanics, including the two life bars for each player and the ability to have long and drawn-out combos. The original game was infamous for spawning the Combo Breaker meme. Also, we really love fighting games. Even more so when they’re completely free with the console and available at launch.

Dead Rising 3
Before you ask, no, this isn’t in the list because of some misguided love for zombies. We actually hate the buggers. That’s why we play so many games where we get to kill them in violent and inventive ways, and no game brings the word ‘inventive’ for zombie murder like Dead Rising. The third game in the franchise is going to feature a bigger world along with a previously unheard of number of zombies on the screen at the same time, and will be available alongside the console when it launches.

Mirror’s Edge 2

We’re not sure if this is cross-platform, but we do know that we love the fact that Mirror’s Edge is getting a sequel. One of the most underrated and underperforming games of the last console generation, Mirror’s Edge was a critical success and got a massive cult following. The game puts you in the shoes of Faith, as you have to navigate through the obstacle course-like layout of an unnamed city using quick thinking and your mad parkour skills. Here’s hoping Mirror’s Edge 2 brings what we’ve always wanted from the game—open world parkour madness.

Project Spark
While not exactly a game per se, we’re still looking forward to Spark because of all the potential it holds. Not only does it look fun making your own world (yes, I’m a Dungeons & Dragons nerd) and getting others to play in it, but it could also be one of the ways to get a young child interested in programming and game development. It also has some gorgeous stylised graphics.

Titanfall
We cheated a bit here; Titanfall is also coming out on the PC. But we do know that it isn’t coming to the PlayStation 4, and that’s what counts, right guys? Right? Anyway, Titanfall looks like it will finally kick off the decline of the Call of Duty franchise because of its innovative take on the same close-quarters gameplay with jetpacks and parkour. Also, giant robots! Giant robots are always awesome!

Zoo Tycoon
I’m a sucker for management games, and sank hundreds of hours into Zoo Tycoon back when it came out in 2001. Hopefully, it’ll bring the same deep and compelling gameplay along with HD graphics. Also, who doesn’t like setting up a lion cage, buying lions and then destroying the cage just to watch lions rampaging through the zoo? Okay, I might have some issues.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
