Here’s our final feature of the year and we hope it satisfies everyone’s curiosity out there…
Hellboy (Xbox360 PS3)
Based on the Mike Magnolia’s Dark House comic of the same name, Hellboy will put players into the boots (or rather hooves) of the big red horned demon who’s got a heart of gold and a hand of stone. The game is being developed by Konami (Metal Gear Solid series) and will play like a typical hack and slash on the lines of God of War or Devil May Cry.
Indiana Jones (Xbox360 PS3)
The world’s second favorite archaeologist (first one had to be Lara right?) is all set to make his transition to next generation systems. The game (which yet has to be named) will be developed by Lucas Arts under the watchful eye of George Lucas (who’s handling the game’s script by the way) and will use the much hyped Euphoria engine for advanced A.I. behavior as well as highly advanced Physics technology called Digital Molecular Matter (DEM) that’ll cause objects in the game world to react in the same way their real life counterparts would.

John Woo presents Stranglehold (Xbox360 PS3 PC)
After playing dozens of games that mimic John Woo’s unconventional style of action, we finally get a game by the master himself and its called Stranglehold. The game is an unofficial (or spiritual if you will) successor of sorts to Woo’s 1992 masterpiece—Hard Boiled—and will see Chow Yun Fat reprise his role as Inspector Tequila as he travels the world slaughtering the Russian mob in an attempt to free his kidnapped wife. The game will boast of hyper-kinetic shootouts, wanton destruction, tons of slow motion, stylish moves and of course… white doves; for more, head on over to our preview.
The Darkness (Xbox360 PS3)
In the Darkness, you’ll step into the boots of Jackie Estacado, a mafia hitman who inherits the powers of the darkness on his 21st birthday. At first poor Jackie feels like the odd one out but once he learns to harness the true extent of this power, it’s a whole new ball game altogether. I really have high hopes for this game since its being developed by Starbreeze Studios, the same people behind the most excellent Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. To dwell further into the darkness, head
here.

Cipher Complex (Xbox360 PS3)
Think of Cipher Complex as a stealth game; only with a lot more emphasis on action and speedier movements since the developers feel that most stealth game protagonists move as slow as your grandmum as a result of which John Cipher (the game’s protagonist) will possess the ability to plough through an entire room of people even before the first body even hits the floor. Interested? Head over to our preview for more.
Turok (Xbox360 PS3)
Not many people expected a Turok title after Acclaim shut their doors down a couple of years ago but here is yet another Turok game—courtesy, Propaganda Games. In Turok, players will step into the boots of Joseph Turok, a former Black ops commando who’s tasked with bringing down a nefarious criminal and perusing him leads Turok to a genetically altered planet. Unfortunately things don’t go as planned and Turok’s ship gets shot down while approaching the planet so you’ll have to use your wits, weapons and all the available resources to survive the monstrosities lurking there… dinosaurs included.

Kane and Lynch: Dead Men (Xbox360 PS3 PC)
I’d like to introduce you to the reason we probably won’t get Freedom Fighters 2 for a while and it goes by the name of Kane and Lynch: Dead Men. This third person action game which by the way will put a heavy emphasis on squad tactics will place players into the boots of Kane—a mercenary of sorts who goes around undertaking mission for an organization called the Seven under forced circumstances. While playing the game on your own, Lynch will be AI controlled, but add a friend in there and you have the recipe for some co-op goodness.
Battlefield: Bad Company (Xbox360 PS3 PC)
Breaking away from its standard first person online fare, Battlefield: Bad Company will boast of a sturdy single player campaign that’ll put players in the boots of a bunch of renegade soldiers “who risk it all on a personal quest for gold and revenge”. Not much is known about the game at this point except for the fact that it’ll boast of some highly destroyable environments and a solid multiplayer fare.

Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (Xbox360 PC)
The genre defining franchise will make its return in 2007, with Command & Conquer 3, and this time around, gamers can look forward to “fast-paced gameplay with new ways to tell a story in an RTS game”. The game will also bring a bunch of new stuff to the table like an Alien faction and other gameplay innovations not known at this moment.
Unreal Tournament 2007 (PC PS3)
Unreal Tournament has been enthralling millions since 1999 and nearly every iteration after the first one has improved upon the series in one way or another. With UT2K7 not only do you get some brilliant visuals (courtesy of the Unreal 3 engine) to complement the game’s fast paced and brutal action but we get newer vehicles, newer weapons and a new gameplay mode called Unreal Warfare (previously called Conquest). As of now this game has only been confirmed for the PC and the PS3, but I’m sure we’ll see an Xbox 360 version soon.
That’s about it for us this year; have a Happy New Year and we’ll see you on the other side.
