As promised, here’s our final list before the year ends.
**Assassins Creed (PC Xbox360 PS3)**
Assassins Creed is all set to re-invent the term ‘go anywhere do anything’ with gameplay that’ll well… allow you to go anywhere and do anything. The game is set in the medieval ages (or not?) and will put players into the boots of an assassin called Altair as he strives to liberate the land against tyranny and turmoil. The reason most of this world is really stoked about this game is because it promises to be extremely open ended (developer Ubisoft claims that Altair will be able to scale any surface “that sticks out more than 2 inches”) and will offer a blend of stealth as well as platforming. For more on the game, head on over to our preview
here.

Alan Wake (Xbox360 PC)
Alan Wake is a “psychological action thriller” from Remedy, the same people who popularized slow motion in video games with Max Payne and will take place in the idyllic town of Bright Falls where Alan Wake—a writer suffering insomnia as well as writer’s block—seeks treatment. The good news is that he gets cured can start writing once again, but unfortunately for him and the rest of the town, his work has mysteriously started coming to life. There are rumors that the game may be pushed back to 2008 but since there isn’t any official announcement, we’ll keep it in our list for now.
Def Jam Icon (Xbox360 PS3)
I have proclaimed my unbiased love for Def Jam Fight for New York time and time again so when I heard the game’s all set to make its next gen debut I was ecstatic beyond belief. Unfortunately, the game’s not going to be developed by Aki Corporation anymore; the reins have been passed onto EA Chicago, the same studio behind Fight Night Round 3 (slight consolation since that game rocked). Not much is known about the game apart from the fact that it’ll put a lot more emphasis on music this time round.

Army of Two (Xbox360 PS3)
Is this EA’s answer to Gears of War? Can’t say as of now, but after what they said about Epic’s most excellent tactical shooter, they better have a god damn good game. Either way EA has real big plans for this game as they feel its all set to redefine the whole ‘playing with a friend’ AKA co-op element as we know it.
Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway (Xbox360 PS3 PC)
Step into the boots of Sergeant Matt baker for the third time as he leads his band of brothers through Operation Market-Garden, the largest airborne operation of World War II. Hell’s Highway is all set to bring a lot of new stuff to the table like the ability to wield heavy weapons, the ability to go prone, smarter AI and lots more.

Burnout V (Xbox360 PS3)
Burnout in next gen…. need I say more? (Well actually not much is known about the game so I really can’t even if I want to).
NOTE: The image used above is not from Burnout V.
Burnout Dominator (PS2 PSP)
One of the only current gen games to make it to our list, Dominator is all set to give players once last whirl at this series before it moves onto next gen. Once again, not much is known at the moment except for the fact that the game will retain the same thrills and adrenalin pumping gameplay that made this series a blast to play.

God of War II (PS2)
The second (and the last) PS2 game to make its appearance on this list, God of War II is probably the last reason to hold onto your PS2. Since the first one rocked so hard (in nearly every aspect), the developers are using the “why fix something that’s not broken” mentality so don’t expect anything a lot of changes; what you can expect is maiming and mutilating a lot of Greek mythology all over again. Want more of Kratos? Head here.
Dark Sector (Xbox360 PS3 PC)
When Dark Sector was first shown at E3 2004, the game looked a lot like a futuristic Splinter Cell with a lot of emphasis on stealth but all that was squashed when developer Digital Extremes released new images and a press release for Dark Sector that stated the game would now play like a standard run of the mill third person action fare.

Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox360 PS3)
With GTA IV, this ground breaking series that took the world by storm will finally make the transition to next gen. Rockstar’s extremely tight lipped about this game and the only two things we know as of now are (1) the game will use the RARE engine which was developed by Rockstar for their table tennis game and (2) it’ll release on the 16th of October 2007.
Half - Life 2 (Xbox360 PS3 PC)
Besides being one of the most loved shooters on the planet, Half Life 2 also managed to give the world the mother of all scalable engines, the Source engine, and I’m sure fans of this series will be thrilled to know that their favorite shooter will now be available on next gen consoles as well. With Half Life 2 for consoles not only do you get the entire game, but you also get both its expansions, Episode I and II as well as Team Fortress II and Portal, a single player game that’s Valve’s answer to Prey’s trippy portal technology.

Huxley (Xbox360 PC)
In case you’re bored of conventional shooters that have you taking on waves of brain dead enemies, Huxley is the game for you. Huxley is an MMOFPS (Massively Multiplayer online First Person Shooter), similar to Planetside (only it won’t be that tactical) where you’ll be able to indulge in some Player VS AI quests or PvP action (player VS player). If that’s not enough take solace in the fact that each of the game’s servers can hold upto 200 players at a time and you’ll also be able to take on Xbox360 owners in a cross platform battle to the end.
Clive Barker’s Jericho (Xbox360 PS3)
After Undying, Clive Barker seemed to have vanished from the video game scene till July 2006 when he announced a new survival horror called Jericho that’ll follow the exploits of a special-ops team as they strive to uncover the mystery behind a place called Jericho, the humble abode of evil itself that’s mysterious reappeared in a remote desert.

Age of Conan (Xbox360 PC)
An action MMORPG set in the Conan universe, Age of Conan will see players splitting skulls as their favorite barbarian (and just so you know, the game will be based on the books and not the Schwarzenegger movie). In addition of real time combat (think Fable), the game will boast of a single player campaign that’ll help you hone your skills before you take it online.
Bioshock (Xbox360 PS3)
A spiritual successor of sorts to the cult classic horror RPG, System Shock 2, Bioshock is all set to immerse players in a horrific desolated underwater city called Rapture where the player will be forced to survive against a bunch of genetic mutants, “big daddies” as well as some “little sisters”. For a better explanation, check out our preview here.
