Unofficial Xposed framework out for Android Nougat 7.1.x versions

It is time for Android users across the world to rejoice as Xposed for Android Nougat 7.1.1 has arrived. Even though this version of Xposed is unofficial and not developed by Rovo89 but according to a report by XDA developers, some users have reported success in installing the framework on Android Nougat. The interesting part to note here is that Rovo89 issued an update on his progress to develop the official Xposed framework for Nougat on his Github repository. He stated that there is a lot of pending work to ensure that Xposed is functional again but pointed out that he had achieved significant breakthroughs in creating more efficient ways. For the uninitiated, Xposed framework is a framework that lets users modify and add functionality to Android apps that are not available in the official apps. Developers create ‘modules’ for each app to add different type of functionalities for the apps of their choice. The thing that makes it more popular is that this does not modify the original app and you can update it and use it normally using the Google Play Store. This is only limited to custom ROMs which means that normal users who don’t play around with custom ROMs will not be able to directly install the framework. The way this works is that that ROM developers, the developers who make custom ROM (Android operating system) need to add the submodule while making the entire operating system. This way, all the changes that are usually needed to be done on a working Android installation are already done. Almost hours after this method was posted on the XDA forums, ‘The PurifyOS Team’ took the submodule that ‘abforce’ was working on to create an zip file that can be flashed using any custom recovery. One thing to note before you do anything is that if you don’t know what you are doing or if you don’t know what the terms ‘bootloop’, ‘soft brick’ or ‘hard brick’ are then it is better to not do anything. According to the forum thread, users who are interested in installing can check the three available versions for SDK25 ARM64, SDK25 ARM and SDK25 x86 devices. The SDK25 signifies Android Nougat 7.1.1 while the ARM64, ARM and x86 signify the type of architectures. Before you proceed to install the framework by flashing it in the recovery, make sure to take a backup of all your data to ensure that you do not lose any data. Last but not the least, it is better to wait for some time as some users have reported a number of bugs on XDA and Reddit forms. So, it is better to wait for sometime so that developers can fix the bugs.
