Uncharted 3 Wish List

Even though we loved Uncharted 2 to death, there’s some stuff we wish Naughty Dog had implemented in the game. Here’s a quick look at that wish list.

Uncharted 3 Wish List

I loved Uncharted 2 to death. In fact I loved it so much I gave it a perfect score . Why? Simply because it felt like one of the most exciting, intense and gorgeous gaming experiences of this generation. Not only did it offer a lengthy single player campaign but it also added in a robust multiplayer mode that increased the game’s longevity significantly.

Still there were a few gripes I had with the game and here’s what I hope Naughty Dog can fix in the sequel.

Warning: This article may contain a few spoilers for obvious reasons. Tread carefully.

Don’t Increase the length just for the heck of it

Uncharted was a pretty short game so ND obviously felt the need to increase the game’s length this time round. While I have no problem with that ideology, the last few levels felt a bit tacked on during which the game felt like a bit of a grind. Also the fact that you had respawning enemies throwing insanely accurate nades at your feet didn’t really help.

Make the platforming non-linear

Uncharted 2 may have nailed the whole Indiana Jones vibe better than any game out there but one aspect of the game that did feel a bit off was the platforming. I’m not saying it was bad by any means; it’s just that you HAD to climb the ledge the game wanted you to. There was no room for exploration or experimentation and there were times when Drake couldn’t even scale a tiny ledge, just because he was not supposed to go in that direction.

More epic boss fights

Uncharted 2 was full of high octane cinematic moments but except for the last boss fight there really weren’t any impressive boss fights to talk about. I’ve fought a tank and a chopper tons of times in games before and even though UC2 did those fights better than most of them, I still feel there could have been room for more epicness.

Improve hand to hand combat

Hand to hand combat in UC2 felt extremely context sensitive. Now I know Nathan Drake is an everyday man so expecting him to fight like a ninja would be stupid but maybe for the next iteration we can get a tad deeper system that maybe you could even upgrade.

Expand Co-Op

Everyone and their mums appreciated the addition of co-operatively play to this game, even if it was for stand-alone missions and not the single player campaign. I only hope the next time round they either implement it into the campaign or increase the amount of levels we can play in co-op. And why for the love of God was the epic train level missing from the co-op playlist ND?

Improve Matchmaking

It takes way too long to find servers even though there are thousands of people playing online. Also for some reason even though I partied up with a friend, I found myself on the opposite team multiple times. Like WTF mate.

Rectify Imbalanced Weaponry in MP

I’m not blind and I’ve been playing shooters for a while now but still in UC2 there were times when I empty nearly half my clip from my AK47 into an opponent and he just didn’t die. Also Desert Eagles are way too overpowered for their own good.

Varied Customization Options

I like the fact that I can buy skins and stuff in MP but how about letting me customize the exact appearance of my character a la Rainbow Six Vegas? That would let me add a bit of my personality to the game.

Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now. see more
