XOLO’s latest addition to the team is the super-sleek Q1000S. This is a follow up to the Q1000 which had its fare share of success. The Q1000S is priced at Rs 18,999 and will be competing directly with the Micromax Canvas 4 in terms of specifications and price. Here’s a quick unboxing and a short tour of the phone and the UI. Here’s a quick primer on some of the noteable specifications of the phone in case you missed the memo. The front features a 5-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This gives it a pixel density of 294 ppi. Along with this, it also has One Glass Solution (OGS) technology, which essentially enhances the overall colours and contrast on the display.

Under the hood, the Q1000S is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. This means the interface will be quite smooth, especially when coupled with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and its Project Butter. This is kept alive by a 2,500 mAh battery, which Xolo claims can play music for up to 53 hours through internal speakers, 34 hours through wired headset, 425 hours of standby time, 22.5 hours of 2G talk time and 12.5 hours of 3G talk time. Internal memory is 16GB, and it doesn’t seem to have a microSD slot for memory expansion.

It is equipped with a 13-megapixel shooter on the back which has a BSI 2 sensor. BSI 2 is, as the name might imply, a successor to the original Backside Illuminated sensor. It is said to give better image quality, enhanced colour reproduction and improved overall camera performance when compared to its predecessor. The front has a 5-megapixel camera with a BSI sensor.
