Ubisoft announces two Assassin's Creed games

Ubisoft has announced a couple of new games in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Don’t get your hopes too high, though. One is simply a port and the other is going to be more-or-less a marketing tool. The first is Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, which is a console and PC port of the PlayStation Vita game that was released last year alongside Assassin’s Creed 3. The other is Assassin’s Creed Pirates, which is a mobile game featuring the stellar naval combat we saw in Assassin’s Creed 3.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD features unique assassin gameplay mechanics that weren’t really present in any of the other games in the franchise. It also has its own storyline that is part of the broader Assassin’s Creed canon. Developed by Ubisoft Sofia, Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD is a chapter of the pre-American Revolution, which essentially puts it right before Assassin’s Creed 3 in the timeline. It is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

According to Ubisoft, the game will take full advantage of its new hardware and feature a complete graphical overhaul, remastered music and sound effects, a revamped gameplay experience and new missions that dive deeper into protagonist Aveline’s story.

Assassin’s Creed Pirates, developed by Ubisoft Paris, is coming to tablets and smartphones—both iOS and Android. It will allow players explore the Caribbean setting of the upcoming Black Flag during the Golden Age of piracy as Alonzo Batilla, a young and ambitious captain. Players will have to manage their crew, upgrade their ship, recruit new crew members and engage in huge real-time naval battles to become the most feared pirate of their time and claim La Buse’s legendary treasure.

Ubisoft Paris is developing a new mobile engine to bring its own brand of 3D visuals to smartphones and tablets. Not only will it feature the Caribbean Sea as an open world (albeit a more limited one that Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag), it will also have day-night patterns as well as real time weather.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
