Ubisoft Announces Assassins Creed

Ubisoft Montreal (the same team that worked on the Prince of Persia series) has announced a brand new next generation title called The Assassins Creed. The game, that will be a part of a franchise (a trilogy most likely) will put players in the shoes of an Assassin named Altair during the Crusades as he tries to suppress both sides of the conflict. Gameplay mechanics will involve a combination of the platforming aspects of Prince of Persia with stealth elements taken from Splinter Cell. Here’s more official BS from the press release:

“Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players, assuming the role of the main character Altair, will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and to shape events during this pivotal moment in history.”

Head on over to their website for a teaser trailer.

Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now. see more
