UberSocial and Twidroyd Back in Action for Blackberry

Much to Blackberry users’ dismay, Ubersocial (formerly UberTwitter) and Twidroyd were banned by Twitter for privacy and trademark violations. Blackberry users were forced to use the Twitter for Blackberry app which didn’t allow for too many happy tweeters. However, Twitter announced yesterday that the APIs have taken steps towards remedying the violations and should be available again once the apps are updated.

So far, the update to Twidroyd is available (according to a tweet by developer Ubermedia) and the update to Ubersocial is on its way. This ban has been Twitter’s way of getting ahead of its third party competitors and the ceasefire may only be temporary. Twitter insists that discussions with Ubermedia have been taking place for a while and Friday’s banning was a long time coming. However, these applications are coming back and Blackberry users need fret no more.
