UberMedia Rumoured to Come Up With Own Social Network

UberMedia, the creators of third party Twitter applications like Echofon and UberSocial, might be looking into creating its own competitor for Twitter. When Twitter disallowed third party developers from making client apps, basically discouraging companies like UberMedia, the 3rd party company seems to have decided to take social networking into its own hands.

Should make for an interesting showdown!

According to sources close to the matter, UberMedia is not only looking at a service to compete with Twitter, but it would also address some common complaints that people have with Twitter like character limits on messages. Sources also say that UberMedia isn’t absolutely, definitely making the service just yet, it will be a back up for when Twitter finally disallows all their services altogether.

Competing with Twitter is, of course, a huge task to undertake, especially since the social networking microblog has established its foothold and you’ll see a “share on Twitter” on virtually every website and app. UberMedia would have to be a little more creative than presenting similar services to Twitter’s anyway, and if and when they do launch their competitor, it will be interesting to see what they come up with.
