Uber has finally added a much needed feature in the form of pre-scheduled ride requests. Uber has stated on its blog on Thursday, that the cab-hailing app will soon be rolling out Scheduled Rides feature, globally. “With just a few taps on your app, you can schedule your ride 30 minutes to 30 days in advance and have the comfort of knowing your Uber will be there when it’s time to head out,” says the blog post. Uber users in Seattle will be the first users able to use this feature, and a gradual rollout will follow soon. To activate it, you will need to select Uber X and tap on ‘Schedule a Ride’. Then you will be prompted to select a pickup date, time, location and destination. After confirming your details, you can tap on ‘Schedule UberX’ and you’re done. The Scheduled Rides can be cancelled anytime before the ride is on its way. Also, users using the scheduling feature will get reminders 24 hours before and 30 mins before the time of pickup. You will also get notified if surge charges are applicable when the ride is on its way. According to Time, riders will not be connected to the drivers when they make the request. According to the Uber spokesperson, there may still be a chance that a driver is not available at the time of the requested pickup. Since Uber is testing this feature with a lot of its corporate clients, Microsoft had this to say, “Seattle has grown into one of the world’s great technology markets, and we’re excited to see Uber launch new and innovative features here first. With Scheduled Rides, Uber is continuing to help us all make the most of our time.”
