Uber, the smartphone-based cab hire company that gained huge popularity in the US, has now arrived in Mumbai. The company tweeted revealing that Mumbai is the fifth city to get Uber services in the country starting today. Uber already operates in Bangalore, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai. According to the company’s official blog, the Uber service for Mumbai is in testing phase. Initially, the service will be available around South Mumbai and western suburb Bandra. According to BGR, Uber will be pricing its services at a base fare of Rs 100, with Rs 17 per kilometer and Rs 2 per minute during the testing phase. Initially the minimum fare will be Rs 200, while the base fare could later rise as has been seen in other Indian cities. Uber’s fleet of cars will include Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Accord, Toyota Innova and Mercedes Benz E-Class. However, during the testing phase it will have limited cars and one can expect longer ETAs than usual. Booking process is taken care of by the Uber app for **Android** and iOS. As a promotional offer, the company lets users enjoy two free rides up to Rs 500 each by using the promo code UberMumbaiLaunch.
