Ride-hailing service Uber is introducing a new service in India called HIRE, which will allow you to rent a cab for a certain duration of the day. This will essentially allow you to explore a city while your Uber waits for you at each destination. As of now, Uber HIRE is only available in the city of Bengaluru.
HIRE has two options if your pickup location is not the airport. Two hours with 20 km of travelling has a base fare of Rs 649, while four hours with 40 km of travelling will cost Rs 1199.
If the airport is the pickup location then you have 5 hours for a distance of 50 km at a base fare of Rs 1,349 and 10 hours for a distance of 100 km for Rs 2,399.
Additional charges include Rs 2/minute and Rs 20/km for the first 20 km and then Rs 18/km after exceeding by 40 km.
Currently, you will only be able to pay your Uber driver via cash and also extra charges for taxes and toll will be applicable at the end of the ride. Also, you cannot schedule an Uber HIRE.
It can be expected that Uber will be bringing this service to other parts of the cities as well.
