Legendary rock band U2 has tied up with Apple to give away its latest single for free on iTunes. The catch is that the song will be available for only a limited period of time on the service, since the band has created it solely for charity purposes.

Named “Invisible,” U2’s new track has been made especially for (RED), the HIV/AIDS charity cause that U2 frontman Bono has worked closely with in the past. While the single will be available for free download, it will be making money for the charity. For every time the track is downloaded, Bank of America will donate $1, up to $2,000,000 to (RED) to help its cause in the fight against AIDS.

Invisible will be available for download till about 10:30 AM, IST on Tuesday, February 4. The track was also featured in a Super Bowl commercial, to announce the partnership between Bank of America and (RED) before it was made available for download.

In an interview with USA Today , Bono said that Invisible will not be the official single for U2’s upcoming album that is expected to hit stores this year. You can get your hands on Invisible for the next few hours on iTunes. Of course, the availability of the track is subject to location as well, but is available for download in India currently.

Bono had earlier roped in Apple’s Jony Ive and Marc Newson to help create items to be sold for (RED) and its charitable causes. The designers teamed up to create a one-off vintage  Leica M camera and a red Mac Pro , amongst many other items for a charity auction at Sotherby’s in November.
