U.S. Antitrust Gives Go Ahead to Microsoft's Skype Buyout

The U.S. antitrust has finally approved of Microsoft’s ambitions of buying Skype. The software giant had announced last month of its plans with Skype. The deal was reportedly struck at a whopping $8.5 billion. But, the antitrust approval formalities were delaying the buyout process.

Yesterday, it was during the routine procedure of deal approvals, that the acquisition bid was approved. The decision was announced by the Federal Trade Commission, and was put out by the way of a website post. The initial stages of the acquisition raised suspicious stares in close circles, since Skype services aren’t doing too well, and has been fetching losses. Microsoft, on the other hand, is on the look out for a new breed of customers for its Windows and Office software, which it believes will come to them via this acquisition.
