Twitter has announced to roll out a new service that will allow users to create polls. With this move, Twitter is believed to be working at improving user engagement. https://twitter.com/twitter/status/656832713781936128 The poll lets users ask a question with two choices as answers, and it will remain open for 24 hours. In an official blogpost, Twitter writes, “Previously, we’ve offered a few ways to participate in polls — Tweeting questions and tracking replies, tallying hashtag votes, or asking followers to favorite or Retweet to vote. Now, you’ll be able to create your own two-choice poll right from the compose box and it will remain live for 24 hours. You can vote on any poll, and how you voted is not shared publicly.” Twitter had already started testing polls since late September with select media professionals and Twitter employees. “There’s no better place to get answers than on Twitter. For poll creators, it’s a new way to engage with Twitter’s massive audience and understand exactly what people think. For those participating, it’s a very easy way to make your voice heard,” the blogpost adds. Twitter has said it will start rolling out the ability to create polls on iOS, Android, and desktop at twitter.com, and one will notice a new poll icon above in the compose box.
Twitter has said it is rolling out a service that would allow users to run polls on their profile, in a bid to improve user engagement on the microblogging service.
