Twitter sent out its very first tweet exactly 10 years ago, on 21 March 2006. While the company still struggles to get profitable and please investors, the micro-blogging platform has amassed users across the world and is at the forefront when it comes to news, opinions and even trolls.
Twitter has taken to its official blog to thank everyone with a video that encompasses its 10 year old journey. It has managed to put all of this in a video, finally summing it all up in a 140-character tweet, asking everyone to #LoveTwitter. As a 10 year old, Twitter sometimes appears dreamy, but there is no denying that the platform is almost synonymous with Freedom to Speech, and thoughts. “Throughout the years, you’ve made Twitter what it is today and you’re shaping what it will be in the future. Thank you for making history, driving change, lifting each other up and laughing together every day,” it writes. You will find a similar message in the video that highlights some of the biggest social movements with #BringBackOurGirls, #blacklivesmatter, #LoveWins and more. The video also reaffirms Twitter’s commitment and decision to retain the **140-character** limit. Last week, Chief Executive Jack Dorsey confirmed the same, ending speculation that the micro-blogging site may abandon one of its trademark features for a 10,000-character limit.
