When Twitter updated its mobile applications , it slipped in some nifty, hidden features that users are only just discovering. And much to their delight, the features are more than just some design changes. For example, the “favouriting” feature is now being noticed widely by Twitter users on the apps and website.

Twitter slipped in the favourite button on profiles on the web with its latest update but the feature has existed in a different avatar for a while now. Here’s what it essentially does: Once you hit the favourite button on someone’s profiles, you will get push notifications, informing you when they tweet, so you don’t miss out on even a single thought they put out.

Like we mentioned earlier, this feature did exist earlier, but it was not too visible. To turn on push notifications for particular Twitter profiles, you would need to wade through multiple menus in the past. If you notice, when you check out the person’s profile on the web next, the option for “mobile notifications” would have been turned on. Earlier you could have activated this feature from the web too, but then again, like most good Twitter features, it was hidden.

Now, the feature is much more prominent with the star button you associate with favourited tweets placed right on the profile. It must be noted that this feature is currently visible on Twitter for Android but is not seen on the iOS app just yet, This makes us believe this could well be one of the many “experiments” that Twitter conducts every now and then. Whether or not the favourite button will make its way to iOS and the web in its current avatar is yet to be seen.

Intrigued by all things social, Nishtha will invariably tweet about you. When not tweeting or writing about the next viral video, you will hear her proclaiming her love to Metallica, James Hetfield, Opeth, Akerfeldt and all bands that go 'growl'. She also obsesses about ACP Pradyuman and South Park and you will always find her moving around with a book. Her focus is on all the happening stuff in the tech domain, and she won't hesitate to take a shot at some of the oddball devices that make their way to our labs. see more
