Twitter rolling out new Lead Generation cards for simplified branding

Twitter has started integrating the newest variety of expandable cards called the Lead Generation Card. Twitter users will now be able to display interest in a brand’s offering and provide the brand with their contact details, without having to leave the micro-blogging website.

Now when you see an offer in a tweet, you will simply be able to expand it and click on the call-to-action button below to show interest. For example, if a brand is talking about its upcoming sale, and you would want to know details about it later, you can click on the “Send me details” button below the description. The micro-blogging website will keep your basics like your name, Twitter handle and email address pre-filled into the card. All you need to do is click on the button to securely and directly send your details to the brand whose offers you’re interested in.

Mitali Pattanaik, Product Manager, Revenue for Twitter wrote that marketers who talk to the service are usually most concerned about generating leads and ultimately driving purchases when they pump in money into Twitter advertising. Using the Lead Generation cards users will be able to show that they’re interested. The only difference now is that instead of going off Twitter and on to a merchant’s site or filling out cumbersome forms, users will now simply need to hit a button.

Many beta participants found that the Lead Generation card was instrumental in driving a low cost-per-lead in comparison to other technologies in their marketing suite, writes Pattanaik in the blog. The card will currently be available to Twitter’s managed clients right away with a global launch to be followed shortly. Small and medium-sized businesses will be included in the roll-out too.
