Twitter releases update for Mac; only removes character limit while missing out on other features

Twitter has quietly released a new update for Mac users. The company has added the new long direct message feature to its client, which marks the first update in almost more than a year. However, the update is being reportedly termed as ’the most disappointing update ever’. According to a report by The Next Web, Twitter has rather neglected to add a number of new features such as Twitter video, GIF support, Twitter cards, Twitter music streaming, Improved quote tweets, Group direct messages, Quality mention filters and Blocking improvements. According to a previous **report** , Twitter’s board is weighing a shakeup that could involve the exit of former **Chief Executive Dick Costolo** , Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The changes may be announced when the company names a permanent CEO, Bloomberg said. The change is intended to make the board more diverse. The board may expanded or shuffled to represent directors from diverse backgrounds, such as minorities and those with experience in adjacent industries, including advertising and e-commerce, the people familiar with the matter said.
