After Twitter **updated its privacy policy** and banned posting nude photos and revenge porn on it’s site, it will now help verified users filter out trolls, spams and abusive tweets from their timeline. The company has rolled out a new feature called ‘quality filter’ specifically for verified users who use iOS devices that will help them remove crude remarks, skeptical accounts and duplicate content from their notifications. This feature is quite similar to the old fashioned ‘filter’ option. A report by Arstechnica confirmed this feature with a Twitter spokesperson who stated that the ‘quality filtering’ had gone live for a select number of verified Twitter users. He added that, users can enable the option in the notifications settings of Twitter’s iOS app. Anil Dash, Co-founder at ThinkUp was one of Twitter’s first verified account holders to receive access to the new quality filter option.
The report also pointed out that Twitter’s quality filtering feature will replace the ’tailored’ option that verified users had previously. From the explanation provided, the filter says that it aims to remove any abusive tweets from the timeline which would contain any threat or abusive language. The option does not give information as to what content would it clarify as ‘abusive’ or ’threatening’.
