Twitter introduces conversation ranking for replies view

The most engaging content shows up on top, the tweet with the most replies, or a reply from the original poster is more likely to be prominently placed.

Twitter now ranks conversations in the replies view, to show more relevant or engaging content. The replies are sorted into groups or threads. These conversations do not always appear in chronological order. The most engaging content shows up on top, the tweet with the most replies, or a reply from the original poster is more likely to be prominently placed. Replies from people you know on Twitter, also receive a higher ranking.

The reply count view allows users to measure engagement in replies, similar to the numbers shown beneath the love button and the retweet button.

However, the number of replies shown below the reply icon is not the total number of replies on the thread. Instead, the button only shows the tweets from users who have replied directly to the original tweet.

Twitter has introduced yet another tweak in a spate of measures taken to stay relevant and increase users.

Recent steps include expanding the functionality of mute, making reporting of malicious content easier, and sensitising staff to better take on abuse. Chatbots for businesses can now interact with consumers over the Direct Messaging feature.

Twitter is looking at customer care as a potential source of revenue. Twitter is failing despite a number of bright minds, but the IoT can potentially rescue the struggling microblogging platform.
