Twitter for Windows Phone has received a huge update that brings some much-needed features from the Android and iOS versions. The update seems squarely targeted at photographers as it shifts the app’s focus from merely tweeting to imagery with photo lenses, Vine integration and more.
Photo editing and filter features have been around in the Android and iOS versions of the app since the past six months now. The photo-editing features, supplied by Aviary’s SDK, allow you to make basic changes to your images like cropping, auto-enhancing, and most importantly, adding vintage filters to them. You can add these filters to your images every time you add one to your tweet. These images can be added to existing images in your camera roll as well as to images you click from within the app.
New filters, Vine support
This feature had been missing from the Windows Phone version of Twitter. This update now enables you to edit images and choose from eight new filters – Vignette, Warm, Cool, 1963, 1972, Golden Hour, Antique and Black & White – the same ones you will find in iOS and Android versions of the app.
That’s not just it. While Vine is yet to make its debut on the Windows Phone platform, Twitter is now letting users view these videos directly within tweets in the app. You will no longer need to go to Vine on the browser to view a video, Vines from people you follow will be visible right on your timeline. You will now also be able to save tweeted images directly to your phone. The update also lets you compose tweets better with the new integrated composer.
Considering that this is the first update since the app’s major overhaul back in February, Twitter seems to have done a great job by adding great new features to it. You can download Twitter for Windows Phone from the WP Store to make use of these fun new filters.
