Twitter analytics now available for all users for free

If you needed more reasons to be on Twitter, here’s one. Twitter has now opened up its analytics platform for all users, allowing them to see in real time how their tweets have performed with their followers.

Analytics gives you an accurate measure of this traffic and the interface is simple enough for even Twitter rookies to understand. The dashboard of the analytics website allows anyone to see the nitty-gritties of their tweets, including the number of Favourites, Retweets and Replies each post has received.

In addition, there are filters for Best, Good and All, so you can see which particular tweets have bombed with your followers and what kind of tweets work. For websites and bloggers who post links regularly, the list of all your tweets also shows the number of times a particular link has been clicked. Users can also download a CSV file of the data for offline reference.

Originally, analytics was conceived so that news organisations, websites and bloggers can see how much traffic is driven to their site from the micro-blogging site. Twitter believed web analytics software had not evolved enough to gauge online sharing. The micro-blogging site had shared said on its official blog when it launched the service for businesses and websites in 2011.

According to Twitter, there are three key benefits to using analytics for a business or website. You can “understand how much your website content is being shared across the Twitter network; see the amount of traffic Twitter sends to your site; measure the effectiveness of your Tweet Button integration.”
