Tumblr is rolling out some much needed features to its iOS app, one of which allows users to post video links into a blog. This is a much simpler technique than the previous one which would require a user to embed the code. This feature will work with YouTube, Vimeo or any other video-related site. According to Tumblr, this is the most requested feature by all users. The updated iOS app (version 4.0) also adds in a new iOS icon which matches with the blue and white ’t’ currently on the website. The updated app will allow users to submit posts to blogs that accept submissions along with perform searches filtered by post type and delete blogs. iOS users also get a new notification-screen widget, which will display all the current trends on the site. To use this feature, users will need to swipe down from anywhere on the screen to open the widget and then scroll down the bottom of the ‘Today’ tab. After that, users will need to tap ‘Edit’ and then go to ‘Trending on Tumblr.’ Minor improvements include a new sticky search bar along with sticky avatars. Tumblr’s description also states, “GIFs load in a much more pleasing fashion. You’ll see.” In other features, the new update also brings in a few tweaks to the iPad app in terms of design. The updated app is now available on the Apple App Store.
