Toshiba one of the prime supporters of HD DVD, has announced that it plans to ship all its upcoming and future laptops with HD DVD drives as a standard accessory. This is a good move as Toshiba has sold 9.2 million laptops according to a study done by IDC.
This announcement was made by Toshiba’s senior Vice president Hisatsugu Nonaka, even as he compared Toshiba’s decision to Sony’s strategy. Sony equipped its next-gen gaming console the PS3, with Blu-Ray drives and this alone has been responsible for making Blu-Ray currently the more dominant standard in the struggle between Blu-Ray and HD DVD.
