Apple in talks to buy Beats for $3.2 billion; deal likely to be announced next week Apple is close to paying a record $3.2 billion for Beats Electronics, two people with knowledge of the matter said earlier this week, an expensive foray into music streaming and headphone gear that would mark a departure for the usually cash-conservative iPhone maker. Rajinikanth joins Twitter: Over 1.5 lakh followers with just one tweet Indian film superstar Rajinikanth has at long last joined Twitter and with his first tweet the legendary actor has garnered over 3 lakh followers so far and counting. In fact, before Rajini even made his first ever tweet , he had gained over 10,000 followers. It’s believed to be the first social networking site joined by Rajinikanth.
Apple to launch 4.7-inch iPhone 6 in August, 5.5-inch variant in September: report Apple will unveil the next incarnation of the iPhone in August, one month earlier than industry watchers were generally expecting, Taiwanese media reported on Friday citing unidentified supply-chain sources. A 4.7-inch screen version of the iPhone 6 will reach stores in August, the Economic Daily News reported without specifying which markets would receive the phone first. A 5.5-inch or 5.6-inch model will be released in September, the newspaper said, as the iPhone 5 series was previously.

Sony Xperia Z2 and SmartBand combo arrives in India for Rs 49,990 Finally, Sony has launched the Xperia Z2 in India. The new Sony flagship is priced at an MRP of Rs 49,990 and will be available starting May 12. It will be competing with the HTC One M8 and Galaxy S5 . As suspected, Sony has also launched the fitness-centric SmartBand, that’s being positioned as a life logger. The SmartBand, priced at Rs 5,990, will come bundled with the device.

The report by the UN’s International Telecommunications Union (ITU) said 44 percent of the world’s households will have internet access by end of 2014.

Nintendo back in red with $229 million annual loss Japanese videogame giant Nintendo said it logged a $229 million loss for its fiscal year to March as sales of its Wii U console disappointed. The company said its net loss came in at 23.2 billion yen ($229 million) — reversing a net profit of 7.1 billion yen a year ago — on sales of 571.7 billion yen, which were down 10.0 percent on the year.
