Microsoft has done a really good job with the Xbox Live Arcade network that they’ve setup, giving gamers a chance to download some retro/arcade games for their Xbox 360, at a pretty reasonable price. You can download a demo for any of these arcade games within minutes, and if you like what you see, you can buy it using your Microsoft Points. Here are a few games that are worth your money and bandwidth:
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved
Geometry Wars made its debut as a mini-game that was bundled with Project Gotham Racing 2 for the Xbox. The game did so well that its developer, Bizarre Creations decided to make a stand-alone high-definition version of it, for the Xbox Live Arcade. The game is quite simple to pickup, as it requires you to use your controller’s analog sticks only, where your left analog stick is used to move, and the right stick is used to shoot. This game is just hours and hours of mindless fun, and priced at just 400 Microsoft Points (Approx. $5 USD or Rs. 225), it’s a steal.
**Uno
**
Uno is the kind of game that most people from the late 20th century have enjoyed at some point of time. This Xbox Live Arcade title is just like the real thing, so if you missed this crazy-ass card game, here’s your chance to play it. This game is easy to pickup for anyone, and it has 4 player online support, so you can play it with your friends over the Xbox Live network. I really loved the original game, so this was a perfect buy for me. The game costs as much as a deck of Uno cards, so it’s pretty reasonably priced at 400 Microsoft Points (Approx. $5 USD, Rs. 225).

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
The Xbox Live Arcade version of this classic plays a lot like the arcade original, bringing back sweet memories of this gruesome franchise. The game features all the unlockables and additional content from the original, as well a pretty well crafted multiplayer mode that allows you to pit yourself against foes over the Xbox Live Arcade network. The game is not visually upgraded, but for all you retro gamers out there, that shouldn’t be an issue. The game is priced at 800 Microsoft points (Approx. $10 USD, Rs. 450), and is definitely worth it for anyone who’s a fan of the Mortal Kombat franchise.
Bankshot Billiards 2
This game is perfect for all you pool/snooker addicts out there. The game’s got 9 different games, such as 8-ball, 9-ball, 3 ball, time-trial, trick-shot etc., so it’s like a large package of games for a pretty affordable price of 1200 Microsoft Points (Approx. $15 USD, Rs. 675). The game allows you to switch between the standard first person and table-top view too, giving you quite a bit of flexibility. Additionally, if you get bored playing alone, you can also play against your friends on either the same console, or via the Xbox Live network.

Outpost Kaloki X
Outpost Kaloki X is a space simulation of sorts, where you have to manage a space station, build add-ons, please your alien customers and make sure you generate enough revenue to pay off your hefty power plant and station repair bills. The game has a quirky feel to it, with characters that can be hilarious or just downright corny, but entertaining. The game has more depth than you could expect from a light-hearted space-station economy simulator (man, I could never say that in one breath), and is also a lot of fun to play. At 800 Microsoft Points (Approx. $10 USD, Rs. 450 INR), the game is definitely worth it.
