Top 3 Value Phones of 2006

This year saw some of the best options for the budget phone buyer. Almost every brand had a great price for a low-end phone and some even packed in some goodies. Let’s take a look at the phones that saved people a lot of money.

Motorola FLIP W220 (Rs. 3,900)
Clearly the most fashionable phone you can buy at this price, the FLIP is a cut down version of the RAZR, losing its media playback and camera features, but adding in a much-requested FM radio tuner, making it a hit within the segment. The LED status icons on the external shell remove the need for an external LCD display. The phone also has a color display, GPRS and MMS support, 500kb of internal memory, the best battery life of the lot and comes in silver or black options.

Samsung’s return blow is the upgraded X210 which now also includes an FM radio tuner to woo the masses. This clamshell has a display larger than the MOTOFLIP, a lot more built-in memory (1.8mb), a built-in speaker and also Infrared connectivity. Comes in glossy black or matte gold options. More value for money.

Nokia 6030 (Rs. 3,900)
The king of the low-end market debuted its excellent 6030, a compact candy bar handset that didn’t look cheap from any angle. It features a color display, GPRS and MMS, 3mb of internal memory, and a handsfree speaker, but the final clincher is FM radio.
