THQ decides to pack seven AAA games in its Humble Bundle

The Humble Bundle is famous for bringing indie games to the forefront, and now THQ has taken a bold new step with the planned release of its own version of the pack. However, the Humble THQ Bundle is different from the other bundles, as instead of indie games, you get six triple-A games for any price.

The games included in the Humble THQ Bundle are Darksiders, Metro 2033, Red Faction Armageddon, Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts and Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor. While this bundle also follows the Humble Bundle tradition of pay-what-you-want, paying over the average — which is $5.71 as I write this — will also get you Saint’s Row The Third. Note that while other Humble Bundles are compatible with various operating systems, the Humble THQ Bundle is Windows-only and you’ll require Steam to play.

Alongside this, the Double Fine Amnesia Fortnight Bundle is still available. The voting for the prototypes of the Amnesia Fortnight Bundle was closed recently and the chosen games are Hack n’ Slash, Spacebase DF-9, The White Birch, Autonomous, and Black Lake.

Those who have paid for the Bundle would be getting the five top-voted prototypes, besides the prototypes of Costume Quest and Happy Song. Those who paid something more than the average price, which is $7.21 as I write this, will also be getting a bonus prototype — Brazen. Although the voting has stopped, you can still pay for the bundle and get the eight games. Double Fine is also live-streaming the development process for the prototypes, which started early today on the Amnesia Fortnight Humble Bundle page. The next live-stream would be at 10 a.m. PST today, which translates to 10:30 p.m. tonight in India.

Originally, there were 23 game ideas on the Amnesia Fortnight bundle page, and players could vote on which games would be developed. The top four games from the ideas would become prototypes.

According to Double Fine, Amnesia Fortnight is the name for Double Fine’s annual prototyping period. They apparently take two weeks off from whatever they’re working on, split the company into small teams, and each team gets two weeks to make a game. Double Fine says they do this to test new ideas, and to test new project leaders who feel ready to have a project of their own. Many of the games Double Fine has released in the last few years have come from the Amnesia Fortnight process. Tim Schafer says, “it’s really a great morale boost for the team, and a highly effective way to develop new game ideas.”

While the Amnesia Fortnight Humble Bundle has started, the Humble Bundle for Android 4 was recently completed. The Humble Bundle for Android 4 sold 167,142 bundles for a total of more than $1 million.

The games in the latest Humble Bundle for Android are Splice, Eufloria, Walking Mars, Crayon Physics Deluxe, and Superbrothers: Swords and Sworcery EP. Paying above the average price – which at the time of writing is $5.97 – will net you the adventure game Machinarium. On buying the games, you get access to the different versions of the games on all platforms, including PC, Mac, Linux and Android. The games are all free from any digital rights management (DRM), so you can make as many copies of the games as you like. Along with the games, you also get the soundtrack for each.
