Thin, thinner, thinnest... 3 of the world's thinnest smartphones

“Thin is in” seems to be the mantra of the smartphone industry. While we’ve seen devices cross the 7mm barrier of sleekness, it should not be long before most devices are somewhere between 6mm and 7mm thick. In the past few months, the title of having launched the “thinnest device in the world.” has moved from Huawei to Oppo, back to Huawei and now to a Chinese company named Umeox. Take a look below at the world’s thinnest smartphones.

Umeox X5
The Umeox X5 claims to be the first phone to break the 6mm barrier, measuring a mere 5.6mm and having dimensions of 120 x 60 x 5.6mm. The company has given the extra bulk of backlit display a miss by using the OLED OGS (One Glass Solution) display that is made of films of organic molecules. Its 1400 mAh battery is another reason why the company opted for an OLED screen and single SIM capability. The 4-inch display will feature low 640 x 360 pixels of resolution. It is expected to be powered by a 1GHz dual-core MT6572 chip with either 512MB or 1GB of RAM, and run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. Its 4GB built-in memory is expandable up to 32GB via SD card slot. On the camera front, it has rear and front-facing 5MP cameras. There is no word on the launch date or price yet.

Huawei Ascend P6
Huawei is known to introduce smartphones with a slim profile. Currently, the company is trying its best to create hype around one such ultra-slim smartphone - Ascend P6 . Needless to say, the highlight of the device is its slim profile at 6.18mm thickness. It is super-slim with 132.7 x 65.5 x 6.2 mm dimensions and weighing in at 120 grams. Fuelled by the 1.5GHz quad-core K3V2+ processor and 2GB RAM, the P6 runs on Android 4.2 OS with Huawei Emotion UI in tow. The sore point seems to be its 2000 mAh battery. Though Huawei has announced the P6, there is no confirmation about its launch and availability for the Indian market.

Gionee Elife E6
The Gionee E6 was recently announced in India and is expected to be available next month priced around Rs 25,000. Besides the 1080p full HD display that the smartphone boasts about, it is sleek at a mere 6.18mm. It has a 1.5GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 processor with 2GB RAM (likely to be Mediatek MT6589T Turbo chipset) and brings the latest flavour of Android Jelly Bean - v4.2.
