The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is in mass production, says CEO; expect the phones in mid-November

While poor Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 devices are busy dragging Samsung’s reputation into the dust, Xiaomi’s Note series is seeing explosive sales. The latest addition to that lineup is the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, which is expected to go on sale in November this year. The premium Mi Note lineup shouldn’t be confused with the budget-friendly Redmi Note lineup, however. [caption id=“attachment_339435” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”] ![A leaked image of the Mi Note 2](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/xiaomi-mi-note-2-leak-full-tech2-720.jpg) A leaked image of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2[/caption] Various leaks suggest that the phone will have flagship hardware. Xiaomi is expected to toss in a Snapdragon 821 SoC (the same one that’s on the Google Pixel ) and an option of either 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage and 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. We’re also expecting to see an 8MP front camera and 13MP rear camera. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun reportedly announced on Weibo that the Mi Note 2 was already in mass production and that the phone would go on sale in mid-November in China. PhoneArena suggests that specifications aside, there will also be two variants of the phone with different designs. One will feature a 5.7-inch, curved, dual-edge screen with a resolution of 2K (2560x1440) and the other with a 5.15-inch Full HD screen. PhoneArena also suggests that one of these variants will have a 12MP rear camera and that no dual-camera is planned. An earlier rumour had suggested that the phone would feature a dual-camera setup on the rear. The battery is also expected to be in the 4,000 mAh range. In terms of hardware, the rumoured specs of the Mi Note 2 put it right alongside Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7. Hopefully, it won’t share the Note 7’s explosive temperament.
